UNICEF Ambassador Clay Aiken today ended a five-day visit to the troubled East-African nation of Somalia and called on the world to remember the plight of that country’s children.

U.S. Fund for UNICEF's annual meeting to take place in Atlanta on June 19
The U.S. Fund for UNICEF announced today that its annual meeting, taking place in Atlanta on Thursday, June 19 at the Woodruff Arts Center, will include panel discussions, the introduction of new board members, a tribute to an Atlanta donor and the presentation of the Audrey Hepburn Humanitarian Award, followed by a performance by Grammy Award-winning gospel and R&B singer BeBe Winans.

Children make Halloween count by Trick-or-Treating for UNICEF
This October, UNICEF will celebrate the 58th anniversary of Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF--encouraging American children to make Halloween count by helping other children around the world. Since 1950, children across the United States have been learning about the world beyond their backyards and the importance of social responsibility by Trick-or-Treating for UNICEF.

UNICEF and MERCK partner to protect 100,000 children and young people against mumps epidemic
Officials with the U.S. Fund for UNICEF and global pharmaceutical company MERCK announced the donation and delivery of 100,000 doses of M-M-R® II (measles, mumps and rubella virus vaccine, live, attenuated) to the government of the former Soviet republic of Moldova, in response to an ongoing serious mumps outbreak in that country.

More than 10,000 schools in Sichuan badly damaged
According to data recently collected, more than 10,000 school buildings in Sichuan were badly damaged by the May 12 earthquake. Almost 7,000 schools were completely destroyed and many others suffered partial damage. UNICEF estimates that the number of school children affected is in the millions.
