Named a UNICEF Ambassador in 2009, Selena Gomez is a dedicated advocate for the world’s most vulnerable children, participating in numerous campaigns, events and initiatives on behalf of UNICEF.

Selena Gomez, a renowned recording artist, actress and designer, rose to fame in her role as Alex Russo in Disney Channel’s sitcom Wizards of Waverly Place.

Since releasing her debut album “Stars Dance” in 2013, Selena has become a global star, with multiple albums topping the Billboard 200 and Hot 100. She was named Billboard’s Woman of the Year in 2017.

Selena has since collaborated with many different artists across all genres of music while continuing to flourish in her acting career, most recently portraying Mabel Mora in the award-winning Hulu series Only Murders in the Building.

Beyond her musical and acting career, Selena also has her own makeup and cosmetics company, Rare Beauty, inspired by her third studio album, Rare.

Selena has traveled to Chile, Ghana, and Nepal with UNICEF, where she met with children, teenagers and families and witnessed firsthand what UNICEF does to support children's education, nutrition, health and protection.

During her trip to Nepal, Selena visited the UNICEF-supported Satbariya Rapti Secondary School, joining students as they performed traditional dances of the Tharu community.

Going village to village, she met many female community health volunteers, learning about ways UNICEF supports their efforts to prevent and treat illness and reduce child deaths. She learned about how youth can act as change agents in their communities. And she learned about the importance of UNICEF's sanitation and hygiene programs.

Selena was a strong advocate for the UNICEF Tap Project, and has twice served as the official spokesperson for Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF. She has held charity concerts that have raised funds for UNICEF, and she has appeared in videos promoting UNICEF's lifesaving work for children in the Sahel region of West and Central Africa. And she joined over 50 other UNICEF Ambassadors and Supporters in donating funds to provide critical vaccinations during the COVID-19 pandemic response.
