Supporting Children through the Global Coalition for Youth Mental Health

Pinterest logo white

Since 2022, Pinterest has partnered with UNICEF USA in support of UNICEF’s work to improve child, youth and caregiver mental health through joint advocacy and programs, including investing in arts-based interventions and resources for at-risk children.

In 2024, Pinterest became a member of the Global Coalition for Youth Mental Health – a UNICEF-led Coalition which seeks to address the increasing global burden of mental health in children and young people by calling for investment and action on mental health. The Coalition and its members aim to improve mental health for 50 million children in 150 countries by 2030.

For UNICEF, supporting children's mental health is just as important as supporting their physical health. In every part of the world, poor mental health causes suffering for children and young people. It is a top cause of death, disease and disability, especially for older adolescents. At least 1 in 7 young people between the ages 10 and 19 worldwide have been diagnosed with a mental disorder.

Thanks to UNICEF USA partners and Coalition members like Pinterest, UNICEF is able to respond to many of the mental health risks that children and young people across the globe face and provide critical psychosocial support, counseling and vocational and life-skills training.  Together, we believe that every child has the right to grow up in loving, nurturing and safe environments, with supportive relationships and access to quality mental health and psychosocial support.
