Education can be a critical tool for addressing poverty and protecting children from forced labor, child marriage and trafficking.
Children living in countries at war have come under direct attack, used as human shields, maimed or recruited to fight. Sexual assault, forced marriage and abduction have become standard tactics in conflicts around the globe.
Yemen's civil war has left more than 11 million children in need of humanitarian assistance. UNICEF is on the ground, working with partners to provide protection, nutrition, clean water, sanitation, education and medical care.
