NEW YORK (March 19, 2021) – UNICEF USA condemns the racially motivated acts of hate and violence against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the U.S. — including this week’s killings in Georgia. Racism of any kind has no place in our communities here in the U.S. or around the world. Children and their families have the right to be free from discrimination and to feel safe in their communities.

Additionally, UNICEF USA joins the United Nations in recognizing the International Day of the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on March 21. Every day in its child-focused programs around the world, UNICEF combats racial discrimination as it works to ensure that every child has the right to thrive.
