Great Day Houston talks to UNICEF USA about Human Trafficking

UNICEF USA's End Trafficking program featured on Great Day Houston.

In October 2016, the Southwest office participated in a discussion on human trafficking with Deborah Duncan on KHOU’s Great Day Houston. Southwest Regional Director, Nelson Bowman, shared global statistics and facts on child trafficking worldwide, and he identified ways we can all act locally and support UNICEF’s efforts.  The Southwest office was joined by Houston UNICEF USA advocates to show their support to end trafficking.

“Here in the community we work with several organizations to help raise awareness about the problem. And this problem is worldwide – 5.5 million children are being trafficked,” Nelson Bowman told Deborah Duncan during the Audience Spotlight segment of Great Day Houston.

The International Labour Organization estimates that human traffickers earn more than $150 billion every year from the industry.  To stop them, we are going to need the energy and compassion of a global community. To get involved with this effort, register to volunteer with UNICEF USA.

The 2017 Annual Audrey Hepburn Society Ball will recognize UNICEF’s efforts to End Trafficking globally and locally on Wednesday, May 24, 2017.
