Taking the High Road to Deliver COVID-19 Vaccines in Nepal
UNICEF-supported health workers travel in trucks over bumpy mountain roads and cross footbridges suspended high over rocky canyons to bring COVID-19 vaccine doses to people living in hard-to-reach areas in Nepal.
Join health worker Birma Kunwar as she makes her rounds in Nepal's Darchula District, transporting insulated carriers filled with COVID-19 vaccine doses from the district health office to rural vaccination sites.

As a key partner in the COVAX Facility, a global network established to procure and distribute COVID-19 vaccine doses equitably worldwide, UNICEF is working with Nepal's government to make vaccines accessible to all. UNICEF has strengthened Nepal's cold chain system, supplying refrigerators and cold boxes, and trained workers on how to monitor storage temperatures and transport vaccines safely.
"I feel happy," says Kunwar. "The government has made these provisions to vaccinate people. I'm able to earn a livelihood, so I'm happy."
