UNICEF Emergency Operations center is closely monitoring the situation in eastern Sri Lanka, where flooding and mudslides continue to displace thousands of families from their homes.

Included in the supplies being distributed by local government teams by boat and helicopter are: 50 water tanks and clarification and purification tablets, tarps, sleeping mats, and cooking utensils.

More distributions are on the way, and the UN is preparing an emergency appeal.
