UNICEF USA and #BTSLoveMyself Movement Join Forces to #EndViolence
The acclaimed South Korean boy band has a message for their fans: Use your voice to speak out against violence.
On September 24, following the participation of acclaimed South Korean boy band BTS at the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly, UNICEF USA President and CEO Caryl M. Stern conducted a pledge ceremony with the seven members of the band (RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook). The ceremony marked UNICEF USA's support of BTS's global #BTSLoveMyself campaign, as well as BTS’s commitment to engage their American fan base in UNICEF’s global campaign to #EndViolence against children around the world.
The #BTSLoveMyself movement, a global phenomenon, spreads the message that loving others begins with loving yourself to the band's millions of fans (nicknamed ‘ARMY’). "We have learned to love ourselves, so now I urge you to 'speak yourself',” said BTS's Kim Nam Jun (RM) in a rousing speech at the United Nations General Assembly to mark the launch of Generation Unlimited, a global partnership that aims to ensure that every young person is in education, learning, training or employment by 2030.
"I want to hear your voice... No matter who you are, where you’re from, your skin colour, gender identity: speak yourself.”
