Xylem & UNICEF USA's Partnership:
Increasing Access to Safe Water and Sanitation
Partner since 2020
Global water technology company Xylem and its corporate social responsibility program Xylem Watermark aim to provide education and equitable access to safe water and sanitation to support healthy lives and help build resilient communities.
In 2020, Xylem committed more than $1 million to support UNICEF’s water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) initiatives, focusing on UNICEF’s COVID-19 relief efforts. To date, the partnership has helped provide safe water and sanitation supplies, and supported UNICEF to amplify health-communication messages in vulnerable communities to more than 3.3 million people.
In 2021, Xylem signed a three-year partnership agreement with UNICEF to support UNICEF’s WASH program in India, with a focus on improving WASH services in over 45,000 schools and pre-schools. The partnership aims to reach over 3.4 million vulnerable children throughout India.
Xylem Watermark’s support for UNICEF is part of Xylem's commitment to UN Sustainable Development Goal 6: ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
A partnership that recognizes the fundamental role of water in family and community health
“Availability and access to safe water and sanitation is fundamental to improving the health and wellbeing of millions of Indians,” said Austin Alexander, vice president of Sustainability and Social Impact at Xylem.
“Xylem Watermark is supporting UNICEF in India to accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals, and especially water and sanitation access for all. Clean water and sanitation can create a brighter future for communities across India.”
