Together Women Rise
Together Women Rise, formerly known as Dining for Women, believes that investing in women and girls and ensuring gender equality is key to ending extreme poverty and creating a safer and more peaceful world.
The organization has been working to empower women and girls to become global citizens and powerful agents of change since 2003. Individual chapters consist of small groups who gather monthly to learn, share a sense of community and discuss ways to make a difference for women and girls.
Supporting refugee women and girls in Bangladesh, Jordan and South Sudan
In 2019, in response to the growing Rohingya refugee crisis, Together Women Rise provided a $100,000 grant to support UNICEF's work in Bangladesh improving maternal and newborn health care access and quality. UNICEF USA participated in a webinar to provide the group's members and supporters with more information about the crisis and UNICEF's response to help kick off the group's fundraising efforts.
In 2018, Together Women Rise provided UNICEF with a $100,000 grant to support critical gender-based violence prevention, mitigation and response services that reached 2,500 women and children in South Sudan. A second $100,000 grant from the group supported UNICEF's work for Syrian refugee women in Jordan, helping to provide safe and lawful employment and health care services to 1,000 mothers and their newborns.
