Celebrating The Big Power of Small Change with Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF
Funds raised through this Halloween campaign will support UNICEF’s work to put children first
NEW YORK (October 1, 2018) – This October, children and families can celebrate the spirit of Kids Helping Kids®with Trick or Treat for UNICEF— empowering all to #BeScaryGood. This year’s iconic coin box is a special-edition, featuring Slappy from the movie “Goosebumps 2”. Since its inception in 1950 as the first Kids Helping Kids® initiative, Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF has raised nearly $177 million to help UNICEF provide children with health care, nutrition, safe water, emergency relief, education, and more.
Collecting donations, big and small, add up to lifesaving change for children around the world:
- $0.50 can provide 1 packet of ready-to-use therapeutic food to help a malnourished child recover;
- $2 can provide 10 bars of soap to keep kids clean and healthy;
- $5 can provide 1 UNICEF backpack for a child to go to school;
- $7 can provide 1 volleyball for kids to play and learn teamwork.
All month long, children, parents and teachers can find spooky fun inspiration at TrickorTreatforUNICEF.org by unlocking stories, quizzes, how-to videos and more on the Daily Treats Calendar. Teachers can also use Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF’s resources to introduce students to UNICEF’s global mission and a host of issues that impact children around the world.
“Now more than ever, kids are becoming the driving force of change,” said Caryl M. Stern, CEO and President of UNICEF USA. “It is our duty to encourage their ambitions to become global citizens, and what better way to do so than with one of the longest-running youth initiatives in the country: Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF”.
